What to WEAR

  • Base layerComfortable, moisture-wicking top. A t-shirt is fine for the valley but bring something warmer for the summit.
  • Mid layerFleece or light down jacket. The summit at 2,168 m can be 15–20°F colder than the village.
  • Outer layerWindproof shell or rain jacket. Mountain weather changes quickly — always pack one.
  • BottomsHiking trousers or comfortable jeans. Leggings are fine for a casual day.
  • FootwearSturdy walking shoes or light hiking boots. Trainers are fine for the Cliff Walk; proper footwear for the Bachalpsee hike.
  • AccessoriesSunscreen (UV is intense at altitude), sunglasses, a small backpack, hat.
  • EveningSmart casual for dinner — jeans and a nice top is perfect.
